The area
surrounding Colebrook is full of possibilities for the outdoor enthusiast.
Starting with the clean air, you'll enjoy the forests, fields, mountains, lakes,
rivers and streams. Moose watching is a favorite amongst many, but, the area
abounds with deer and other large and small wildlife.
In the Spring and Summer, popular activities include fishing, canoeing, boating,
hiking, biking, and nature watching. Golf enthusiasts can find golfing in the
area on courses that provide spectacular scenery.
In the Fall, hunting for deer, bear, moose and game birds attracts many hunters
looking for that "trophy". Yet, visitors of all sorts are amazed at the display
of color that our Northern mixed hardwood forests provide. The lay of the land
in Colebrook allows for spectacular vistas and is considered by some as one of
the best areas to view New England's famed foliage.
Things don't slow down in Winter though. Cross Country and downhill skiing are
close by at the Balsams Wilderness. There are ski areas within a 1.5
hour drive from our centrally located area. Snowmobiling is a popular sport with
hundreds of miles of groomed trails available extending to Maine, Vermont and even
Canada. On the nearby lakes, Bob Houses dot the horizon as many ice fisherman
fish for the "Big One".
